Our Story

   Mae’s Grill and Catering is managed and operated by Marcella McClarin and family. It was inspired by Marcella’s mother Lessie Mae Bowen of Beulaville, NC. Her mother loved to cook and had a cafe in Pink Hill, NC called Mae’s Country Kitchen. Her mom taught her how to cook at a young age, and she loved working with her at the restaurant. The first thing she learned to cook was homemade biscuits. Although she doesn’t have a favorite style of food that she enjoys making the most, her passion is soul food. 
   Over the years, Marcella has continued to work in the restaurant industry in many capacities from working in and managing hometown and chain restaurants to having her own catering and restaurant business. Her newest venture is Mae’s Catering business where she will fill your tummy with good ol’country eats such as hamburger steak, chicken and pastry, and fried flounder just to name a few. She also sells breakfast. 
   Outside of cooking, Marcella enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and family and friends. She also loves going to church and encouraging others to be the best that they can be. 
   Marcella and her family say that this business is in honor of her mother, and they hope to spread her love, joy, and laughter by filling your hearts and stomachs with some of her favorite meals. She loves to see people enjoying her food, and believes that she has done so well in the industry because of all the things her mom taught her.
